Academic Retention
North Carolina A&T State University has increased minimum requirements for student matriculation/continuation for 1998 and beyond. Had the revised policy been in effect for the current academic year, some undergraduate students would have been ineligible to register for the Fall 1997 semester.
The new standards were applied to the 1997 Fall enrollees to determine how many students who are continuing would not have been able to enroll under the new standards. The table below shows estimated enrollment impact by class.

There were 5047 undergraduates, not counting new freshmen, who would have been subject to the new standards. Of those, 413 (8.2% of subject undergraduates) would have been ineligible for continued enrollment. Overall, had these students not been enrolled, the impact on total 1997 Fall enrollment would have been a 5.5% reduction.
